Uncompress the program and run SRASSIST.EXE. You will notice that the program is limited to 40 columns and 16 rows, in order to make it work on my HP95LX... Main screen: 1) Character Generator this is the part you were looking for. At the moment, only standard SRII capabilities are listed, but I plan to incorporate Grimoire II and other sourcebooks as well. 2) Skillsoft Calculator A simple yet effective memory and cost calculator for skillsofts. Don't even try to explain its working... 3) Quick Matrix Generator A matrix generator in text form. 4) The Fixer Shop Currently not implemented :) The Quick Matrix Generator (QMG) The matrix generator takes three values: a) the general rating of the matrix (0 for a random selection) , b) the minimum number of nodes (there have to exist almost a CPU) and c) the toughness (1 is the standard SRII number of ICs for each node, 2 and 3 augment this number). After the generation of the matrix, you will have the chance to save your work to disk. Enter a suitable name and then look at the results. Maybe one day I will write a program to read those files and generate a graphic representation of the matrix. The Character Generator (CG) The Character Generator is based on a series of forms. The first lets you select the priorities (look at the bottom part of the screen for a hint on the available keys), if you selected a metahuman character, a race selection screen will appear: press the initial to select a race, the human racial maximums are given for reference only. Then comes the Attributes screen. Increase and decrease attributes using the + and - keys, move with up and down arrows. From here on, the F10 key will take you to the next screen, and F9 will take you to the previous one. Note that you can enter 0-6 values, racial modifiers will be applied later. The Skills screen follows: use the + and - keys to select skills. Then you can buy Cyberware. + and - get/drop an item, and arrows move you around the screens. To go to the next screen, simply move down at the last item. If you selected a physical adept, then 3 screens of abilities are coming. As usual, + and - select the abilities, arrows move in the screen and F9/F10 moves around screens. At last you get a display of the character. Don't worry if you can't see everything, just save to file and then check later.
